EAF shift not yet crimping coke-demand outlook: SunCoke
The movement toward more electric-arc furnace steelmaking is not yet impacting long-range forecasts for coke demand, Kallanish learns from SunCoke Energy executives whilst they reported first-quarter earnings.
The Lisle, Illinois-based company is completely booked for spot coke sales in 2024. The only short-term reduction in consumption recently has been US Steel's idling of Granite City Works (see Kallanish 29 November).
