COPPER: KAZ Minerals increases copper production, outlook still positive
UK-based, Kazakhstan-focused mining company KAZ Minerals increased copper production by 20% on-quarter to 90,000 tonnes in the first quarter of 2022, Kallanish notes.
The increase was due to Aktogay operating above design capacity and an exceptional ramp-up at the mine, with the new concentrator achieving design capacity throughput for extended periods.
Aktogay produced 51,000 t of copper, up 40% compared with the 36,000 t in Q4 2021.
