EU, UK impose further restrictions to contain Putin’s escalation
The European Union and the UK are imposing further sanctions on Russia following increased escalation in the Russian-Ukrainian war, Kallanish reports.
“Important Russian banks will be excluded from the Swift [banking system]. We will also ban the transactions of Russia’s central bank and freeze all its assets, to prevent it from financing Putin’s war,” the European Commission’s president Ursula von der Leyen announced on Sunday.
