German steel, energy groups create hydrogen joint venture

Companies based in the äruhr Valley, Germany’s main mining and steelmaking region, have formed a partnership for a joint feasibility study for the construction of a water electrolysis plant. The partners are Essen-based energy company STEAG, thyssenkrupp Steel, and another unit of the same conglomerate, thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers, which specialises in electrolysis technology.
