SQM posts tremendous profit growth on high lithium prices
Chilean lithium giant SQM reported on 18 August an 857% on-year increase in its Q2 net profit, as lithium prices surged by an average of 701% in the period, Kallanish reports.
Earnings in the April-June quarter reached $859.3 million, compared to $89.8m a year earlier. Revenues for the period jumped 342% on-year to $2.59 billion. These figures and performance led to a net profit of $1.65 billion in H1 2022 (up 940%) and revenues of $4.61 billion (up 314%).
