UK Prime Minister mulls delaying 2030 ICE car ban: report
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is reportedly mulling a potential delay in the ban on the sales of new petrol and diesel cars as part of a major policy shift, Kallanish learns.
Citing unnamed sources, the BBC said on Tuesday evening the government is due to announce the changes “in the coming days.” The report suggests Sunak will maintain the net-zero target by 2050, but will push back the deadline on ICE cars to 2035, instead of 2030.
