UK car output sinks to worst February since 2009
UK car manufacturing dropped 41.3% last month to become the weakest February since 2009, mainly due to the persistent global shortage of semiconductors.
Latest data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) showed on Friday total car production declined for the eight consecutive month to 61,657 units. Yet, electrified car production “continued apace,” representing 25.8% of all cars produced in the UK.
