Anglo, Sojitz turn to profitable coking coal
Amid heightened interest, and prices, in coking coal Anglo American plans to increase capacity at its Australian operation despite failing to find a buyer for the operation in previous years. BHP Billiton-Mitsubishi Alliance meanwhile plans to sell its idle Gregory Crinum mine to Sojitz, which is interested in restarting the mine, Kallanish notes.
The 6 million tonnes/year Gregory Crinum mine was completely idled in 2015 when coking coal prices were much weaker.…
