Argentina becomes net importer in 2021
Argentina saw its fourth-quarter-of-2021 finished steel trade deficit narrow quarter-on-quarter by 14,400 tonnes or 94.1% over Q3 to just 900t, Kallanish notes.
According to data from local steel association Cámara Argentina de Acero (CAA), Argentina’s imports and exports each fell in Q4, but the country was a net importer in 2021 with entries exceeding exports by 200,100t. In comparison, Argentina ended 2020 with a trade surplus of 88,800t.
