ASEAN longs markets take breather amid price hikes
The rebar and wire rod import markets in East Asia are quiet this week, Kallanish notes. Regional buyers are taking a pause after the recent rapid price hikes.
“End-users are resisting or waiting,” a Manila trader says, or reducing buying volumes. Project owners and contractors have allocated a budget for rebar, and are “not going to suddenly pull that extra rabbit [cost] out of the hat,” he adds.
