Brazil’s December exports remain strong, imports fall
Brazil saw steel exports grow sequentially in December, while imports progressively lowered on stabilisation of domestic consumption and prices, Kallanish notes.
According to local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), exports increased 38.4% month-on-month and 1.5% on-year in December at 1.34 million tonnes. This was the second-highest monthly volume shipped last year after 1.39mt in March.
