Brazil saw steel production and consumption fall on-month in February, Kallanish notes. The sector’s performance also remained weaker on-year, with the exception of slab.
Local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil’s (IAB) latest report shows that Brazil’s monthly crude steel output was 2.53 million tonnes, down 9.1% over January and 6.7% less year-on-year. Two-month production remained 5.8% lower on-year at 5.31mt.
