China’s coking coal imports hit 43-month high
In August this year, China’s coking coal imports surged to the highest level since January 2020, according to data from China's General Administration of Customs.
Monthly shipments of coking coal to China totalled 9.57 million tonnes, surging 34.2% on-month and 49.7% on-year, Kallanish notes. The average reported price however, dived further to $131/tonne, which was also 41.3% lower than a year earlier.
