China's scrap market recovery boosts import deals
The Chinese scrap market turned down last week. Supply has increased rapidly as electric arc furnace steel mills have shut down due to power outages and production losses.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,230/tonne ($474/t), including VAT. This is down CNY 46/t from Thursday but CNY 107/t higher compared with the previous Friday.
