Chinese scrap rises, import prices surge
The recovery of steel prices in China has led to an increase in the profits of steel mills, and the utilisation rate of electric arc furnace steel mills was boosted last week.
On Friday, Kallanish assessed Chinese 6mm+ heavy scrap delivered to mills in eastern China's Yangtze River Delta at CNY 3,706/tonne ($582/t), including VAT. This is unchanged from Thursday but up CNY 7/t compared with the previous Friday.
