Coking coal surges on Chinese optimism, wet weather
Australian fob coking coal prices surged during the week ended 3 February as wet weather in Australia and Chinese procurement boosted the market.
Kallanish assessed premium hard coking coal at $348.08/tonne fob Australia, up $16.14/t from $331.94/t the previous week.
On the Singapore Exchange, Premium Coking Coal Futures for March settled at $340/t on Friday. This is versus the Feb futures price settlement of $339.25/t fob a week earlier.
