Imports dip in US in July
The American Iron and Steel Institute reported a 12.9% decrease in steel import permits from June to July per the most recent data issued by the Census Bureau, as monitored by Kallanish.
July permit applications totalled 2.47 million short tons as compared to June’s 2.82m st. Finished steel permits for July equalled 2.08m st, down 5.5% from the preliminary imports total of 2.20m st in June. Year-to-date, total imports were 19.2m st, an increase of 9.1% over …
