Fire impacts ArcelorMittal Gijón’s blast furnace A
ArcelorMittal’s Gijon plant in northern Spain has seen pig iron production affected after blast furnace A caught fire on 22 March, Kallanish learns from the company. The internal emergency plan was immediately activated at the facility and personnel were evacuated.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished within two hours. It is understood that no one was harmed in the accident and there was no environmental impact.
