Fresh data confirm EU second-quarter quota usage acceleration
The first data available regarding the usage of import quotas in the EU during the first three weeks of the second quarter confirm that overall consumption of quotas is slightly accelerating compared with Q1.
The first quarter saw a particularly slow pace of quotas usage, as imports of key steel products were reduced. Q2 is expected to see imports recovering, in line with demand and competitiveness of importers, Kallanish reports.
