German scrap prices have increased in January amid higher exports values, say local market participants. However, the market remains uncertain amid high energy costs and sluggish economic activity.
“In the first month of the new year, most steel plants showed some demand amid restoking,” a buyer tells Kallanish. “The sharp increase in export prices made it possible for domestic traded scrap prices to rise in Germany.”
