Hyundai presses for lower-priced Japanese scrap
South Korea’s Hyundai Steel posted its latest bid prices for Japanese scrap on Friday, Kallanish notes. It is seeking to book Japanese H2 grade scrap at JPY 54,000/tonne ($395/t), H1/H2 grade at JPY 54,500/t and HS grade at JPY 57,000/t. These are on an fob Tokyo basis.
The numbers are hard for Japanese suppliers to sell at, a South Korean trader says. He thinks the mill may possibly secure only two or three cargoes of 2,000-3,000 tonnes each. The Kanto Tets…
