Indian June-quarter consumption increases as exports plunge

Indian finished steel production and consumption surged 10% and 11% respectively on-year to 29.16 million tonnes and 27.69mt in the quarter ended 30 June, according to the Indian steel ministry. Finished steel production in June alone totalled 9.71mt, whereas consumption was noted at 9.26mt. Steel inventories rose 4.8% to 845,000t in June.
