India’s January coking coal, iron ore imports rise
Indian coking coal imports surged 55% on-year to 5.7 million tonnes in January, against 3.67mt imported a year earlier. In April 2022-January 2023, coking coal imports grew 20% on-year to 48.95mt, Kallanish notes.
India’s intake of iron ore meanwhile increased by 29% on-year to 5.41mt in January. Imports, however, plummeted 15% on-year to 35.11mt in April-January, against 41.36mt imported a year ago.
