Italian pig iron prices continue to decline
Italian pig iron prices are falling again in new contracts by some $50/tonne on average compared to last week, sources say.
Buyers, mainly Italian distributors who purchase directly from producers to replenish stocks at the main Marghera port, have a very low appetite for pig iron. With scrap prices sliding to €360-380/tonne delivered ($375-380/t) in the domestic market, mills prefer to purchase scrap and refuse to commit to pig iron’s longer lead times…
