Italian pig iron prices rise
Italian pig iron prices are increasing by some $20/tonne following a long period of market standoff. With scrap prices also increasing in Italy, imported pig iron is again considered competitive, Kallanish notes.
Local distributors, who purchase directly from producers to replenish stocks at the main Marghera port, bought pig iron from Russian companies allowed to sell in Europe at $490-495/t cfr Italy.
