January US imports fall on-year

According to preliminary Census data monitored by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), imported steel products increased overall on-month in January versus December 2022. The US imported 2.6 million short tons in January, 2m st was finished, representing increases of 18.3% and 7.3% since December, Kallanish reports. However, the totals represent decreases of 14.4% and 12.2%, respectively, from January 2022.
