JSW favours first-quarter thermal over coking coal sales
Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW) saw merchant coking coal sales fall 5% on-year in the first quarter to 1.68 million tonnes, although they were up 3% on Q4 2021. Coking coal production nevertheless rose 3% on-year to 2.86mt.
Coke sales were down 6% on-year in Q1 to 950,000t, but this was up 8% on Q4 2021. Production dropped 4% on-year to 880,000t.
Overall coal sales, including thermal coal, however rose 6% on-year in Q1 to 4.06mt, with thermal coal output up 44% …
