May outlook turns negative in US scrap market
Following disappointing April trading, most market participants in the US expect scrap prices to soften in May trading.
Although sentiment was quite bullish that scrap prices would record significant rises during April trading, this has not materialised amid falling export prices.
While the pressure on export scrap and import pig iron is increasing, US market players see April scrap prices at their peak for almost all grades.
