Nippon Steel to commission EAF at Hirohata Works
Japan's Nippon Steel plans to commission one electric arc furnace at its Hirohata Works and to ramp up to full capacity by end-June, Kallanish notes.
The new 720,000 tonnes/year EAF is to improve energy efficiency and provide more flexible production compared to the old equipment. The existing EAF will be shut down after the new furnace is commissioned.
