North American rig count registers another big spike
The weekly North American rig count registered another jump as the oil and gas sector continues its post-holiday restart.
The Baker Hughes count for the week ended 14 January showed 792 total active rigs - an increase of 63 over the previous week and 258 more than were operating at this time last year.
In the US, 13 net rigs were added to the weekly count - 11 rigs slated for oil and two for gas - bringing the total to 601 rigs. This is 228 more rigs compared to …
