‘Party is over’ in US sheet market
The US sheet market is in a state of flux, with prices in a freefall and buyers holding off on purchases, waiting to see where prices will settle.
Hot rolled coil prices continued to drop last week, with spot prices now in the $1,700-1,800/short ton range, ex-works domestic mill. Cold rolled prices were down $50/st to $2,100-2,150/st. Further declines are expected at least through the end of the year.
