Philippine billet market spirals down
The Philippine billet import market continues to be weak, Kallanish notes. The persistent plunge in China’s steel markets is spreading negativity in the ASEAN region.
Traders continue to lead the price drop with short-selling offers for blast furnace 130mm 5sp billet from Malaysia and Indonesia at $555-560/tonne cfr Manila. An Indonesian mill’s offer was at $558/t cfr Manila on Thursday, importing sources say.
