Plate price spread widens for normalisation process
The process of normalisation of plate could become a luxury soon, as looming shortages and natural gas prices increases in Europe will render operation of the dedicated furnaces expensive.
Normalisation is quite a common extra for commodity plate to harmonise the microstructure. Some German distributors have even specialised in offering S355+N (N for normalised) as their standard, for applications like machinery construction and other mechanical engineering.
