Rebar spot pricing slips in US
Spot pricing for domestic rebar in the US is trending down this week, as prices have slipped by $30/short ton.
A Northeastern distributor tells Kallanish that “[spot] prices are slipping due to the rising downward pressure caused by weakened scrap pricing ... [Rebar] imports are becoming more competitive, even despite the strong push by the federal government to utilise domestically-produced materials."
