Russian demand lifts Metalloinvest steel, pig iron shipments
Metalloinvest produced 4.9 million tonnes of crude steel in 2021, down by 1.3% on-year. This was due to repair works at electric arc furnace no.4 at OEMK.
Fourth-quarter crude steel output increased by 2.2% on-year to 1.25mt, Kallanish notes.
Total steel shipments decreased 1.9% on-year in 2021 to 4.5mt, but grew 10.7% on-year in Q4 to 1.2mt.
However, pig iron production in 2021 increased by 4.4% to 2.4mt, with Q4 output up 24.2% to 610,000 tonnes. The…
