Scrap falters in Vietnam on weak steel market
Scrap import prices have reversed downwards in Vietnam, Kallanish notes. Depressed demand for construction steel continues to affect import buying.
Offers for Japanese H2 grade scrap are being indicated at $440/tonne cfr Vietnam. “There are no firm offers yet,” a southern Vietnamese mill manager says. Hong Kong HMS 1&2 50:50 scrap is currently offered at $430-435/t cfr.
