Scrap scarcity pushes up billet quotes in Saudi
Due to scrap scarcity, Saudi Arabia's merchant billet producers have increased billet prices. Scrap quotes increased nationwide, even in Jeddah where most demolishing activity occurs.
This week, HMS 80:20 grade scrap is quoted at SAR 1,600-1,630/tonne ($427-435) cpt in Riyadh, and SAR 1,700/t in Dammam. However, supply is inadequate, so merchant billet producers inched up their induction furnace billet quotes to SAR 2,175-2,200/t ex-works for 130/150mm 4sā¦
