Steel production falls to recent low in US
Weekly raw steel production in the US fell to a recent low last week, Kallanish learns from the latest American Iron and Steel Institute data.
US mills produced 1.807 million short tons of raw steel during the week ended 4 December - a 1.6% decline from the week before. Capability utilisation of 81.9% for the week was down from 83.2% during the week prior but up from 73.1% during the same week last year when output totalled 1.616m st.
