Taiwan scrap prices continue downward trend
Scrap prices in Taiwan have now been falling for a month amid weakening global scrap values.
Local electric arc furnace producer Feng Hsin Iron & Steel has again decreased its rebar sales prices by TWD 200/tonne ($6/t) and scrap buying prices by TWD 300/t. Its purchase price for HMS1 is now at TWD 10,000/t ($321/t) and the list price for #5 (5/8 inches or 15.875mm nominal diameter base) rebar is at TWD 19,200/t ex-works.
