Thai billet, slab imports contract in January-May
Thailand's billet imports and exports declined sharply during January-May. Thai imports of billet fell by 40.9% to 336,122t over January-May compared to 568,469t in the corresponding 2021 period. Oman is the main exporter of billet at 255,703t during Jan-May 2022 and this was a 22.9% year-on-year drop. Trading sources believe most billet imports labelled as from Oman are actually from Iran.
