Turkey’s scrap imports continue decline on lower utilisation
Turkish scrap imports continued their downward trend in October, falling by 9.4% on-year to 1.449 million tonnes, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish. They were, however, up from 1.38mt in September.
Over 96%, or 1.44mt, of the October imports were obsolete scrap. The average price of this scrap was $389/tonne, down from $463/t in October 2021 and up from $387/t in September.
