Turkish billet imports surge on increased Russia supply
Turkish billet imports under HS code 720711 surged to 302,979 tonnes in June, up 131% on-year and versus 235,099t in May, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data monitored by Kallanish.
Russia was the main supplier, with intake surging 96% on-year to 228,519t. Intake from Oman was also notable, at 46,811t versus zero a year earlier. The average price of Russia-origin billet was $710/t versus $717/t from all origins. This compares to $646/t from all …
