US steel shipments down 5% YTD
The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports that while US shipments are up 1.7% from March to April 2023, overall shipments year-to-date are down 5%, Kallanish understands.
US mills shipped a total of 7.49 million net tons of steel in April 2023. This is down 1.7% from April 2022 when they shipped 7.62 m nt. In March 2023, total monthly shipments equalled 7.37 m nt.
