US capacity, production inch up on week

US raw steel production for the week of 20 May was 1.7 million short tons with a capability utilisation rate of 76.8%, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute. The figure represents a 2.4% decrease from the week of 20 May 2022, when production was 1.78m st and utilisation was 81.1%.
Raw steel production however increased by 0.2% on-week, when production was 1.7m st and utilisation was 76.7%.
