US long steel import volume jumps in April
Imports of long steel products into the US increased by more than 100,000 tonnes during April, Kallanish learns from preliminary estimates by the US Department of Commerce.
According to Commerce's data, monthly long steel imports to the US jumped by over 40% on-month in April to a total of 461,195t. The largest supplier was Canada (92,259t). Longs intake from Algeria (69,787t) usurped Mexico's trading volume of long steel shipped to the US (64,535t).
