US plate prices hold steady, upward movement expected
Plate prices in the US market are steady this week but upward pricing pressure is expected as raw material costs continue to increase.
After rising last week, Kallanish’s weekly A36 plate price assessment is unchanged this week at $1,850-1,880/short ton, ex-works mill. Mill lead times for plate are reported to be in the 4-8 week range.
“Business conditions remain very strong and imports are almost nonexistent,” one plate buyer tells Kallanish.
