US rigs fall by 5, Canada up 7
The US and Canadian rig counts moved in nearly equal but opposite directions in the week ended 2 September, Kallanish learns from energy services firm Baker Hughes.
The US lost five net rigs for a total of 760, still up 263 from last year.
Rigs geared for oil production fell by nine, while rigs geared for natural gas production rose by four.
By state, Texas lost nine net rigs, while North Dakota and New Mexico each gained two.
