Sentiment dashes expected US scrap price recovery
In recent weeks, most market participants were almost sure that the downward trend in US domestic scrap prices would end in September trading, with a recovery even seen as very likely.
Today, however, bearish sentiment is seen prevailing in the US market due to some mills’ order cancellations and the downward trend seen in export markets last week. A further softening in prices is now seen as more likely by some market executives.
