US steel production falls over week and year
According to the American Iron and Steel Institute, the US steel industry produced 1.72 million short tons at a capability utilisation rate of 78.2% in the week through 6 August. The figures represent a 0.2% decrease on the week ending 30 July, Kallanish monitors from the weekly report produced by AISI.
In the same week a year ago, production equalled 1.86m st and capacity was 84.7%.
