US Supreme Court neuters EPA carbon cap authority
The US Supreme Court has ruled that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) does not have the authority to mandate carbon emission caps for extant power plants.
The fall-out from this decision is likely to have widespread repercussions for the agency’s ability to curtail climate change. It may also weaken the agency’s ability to limit emissions in general for manufacturers in the steel and vehicle electrification arenas, Kallanish reports.
